Homeowners Associations Needs & Challenges

buildingNational Public Radio’s program MarketPlace featured an informative story discussing the needs and challenges that Homeowners Associations face when living in a Condominium or Housing Community. Things like shoveling snow for folks in Colorado and other maintenance issues that all homeowners face are not just taken care of because you are living in a community building, when things need to be repaired the HOA is responsible for paying for them. A lot of associations will manage these issues on their own, through their board or others will hire a property or association management company (like Phillips’ Community Association Management Group) to take care of these problems or help assist with these issues. In a lot of cases, hiring a company that has expertise in this area can help manage and even keep fees down because they have the experience necessary to manage the common issues that arise. This is an interesting look at HOA’s across the country and maybe it can bring up some conversations for HOAs to determine what the best path is for each community.
