Seattle’s Urbanism Moving Forward

Last week, Seattle’s Department of Transportation discussed plans with city hall on ways to make the city’s sidewalks and public areas a little more pleasant. The proposal from SDOT were ambitious, but well received. Ideas like expanding food vendors, expanding sidewalks, off-premises ads and “parklets” or mini-parks. Urbanism is moving through the city and moving forward. Unemployment is down in the city and the young, urban professionals want to be walk to work and enjoy their space around them and SDOT is seeing this need and addressing it. Another issue on the urban agenda is the concept of microhousing or aPodments ideas for zoning and regulations are being discussed in the proposals as well.
