Online Real Estate Apps – Not a Replacement for REAL People

I have been seeing a lot of different online real estate apps and websites that claim to help people make the best investment or find the house of their dreams, right from the computer. I am all for ease and convenience, but at some point this might go a little too far. A new website out called Flipttechnology, helps first-time home buyers and investors determine if a property is worth their time and money, showing all the various repairs and maintenance that may be needed and giving information about the homes neighborhood and surround areas. This article in the Seattle PI gives some more details about the site and the service.¬†Unfortunately, at the time of writing this blog, the website was down due to “an overwhelming amount of demand”. That’s great for them, but not so great if you are the person trying to decide whether or not you want to make an offer on a house and you are relying solely on website. This is one example of why online apps and real estate technology will not (and should not) take the place of a real live real estate agent. Your real estate agent will be able to give you all the same information and MORE, plus ideas of what they have seen happening in the market, real life examples of negotiation situations that will be helpful in your home buying experience.
