Preparing Properties & Residents for Snow

SeattleCenter_snowLast week Seattle saw its first, light dusting of snow. Imagine how property managers and landlords felt in Buffalo with over 5 feet of snow, this article gives a glimpse of what they had to deal with back east. Even with small amounts of snow there can be issues at rental properties and questions from residents. For the folks in Buffalo the main thing they focused on was being prepared. Reminding tenants to check the weather forecast and understand that when there is a driving ban, that goes for everyone. No one will be getting into their cars, not the snow plows, not landlords, no one – because it’s illegal for anyone to drive. It is unlikely that Seattle will get that much snow, but the temperature does drop and when we do get snow it does mess up the roads, so these tips on dealing with cold weather and snow are helpful to remember when managing a rental or multi-family property .
