Home Sales are Increasing

SOLDIt looks like home sales are up around the country according to National Association of Realtors. As of this week, it states that the seasonally adjusted pending home sales index climbed 3.1 percent to 106.9 last month, the highest reading since June 2013. The trend of home sales is based on pending sales, due to the lag time of one to two months that it can take for a home sale to close. This article from the Seattle Times reports that more contracts have been signed than we have seen in 20 months. The good news is due to an increase in employment and an upturn in hiring across the country, the unemployment rate is down to 5.5 percent, the lowest level in nearly seven years. With more people employed, it means people are ready to start buying again. We are looking forward to putting the freezing winter (for some parts of the country) behind us and moving forward into a fresh new spring and successful home buying season ahead.
