Ballard Homeless Camp is Coming

After months of discussions and debates, Ballard’s Market street will indeed be the home for a new camphomeless encampment. This article and report from the Q 13 News highlights some of the discussions at one of that last community meetings. Neighbors and business owners have opposing views and address their concerns about the safety of the neighborhood and how the proximity to a liquor store could become a problem for the homeless tenants. With all the discussions, the city has still determined that this is the best option available and it is scheduled to be up and running by late November. In the end, homeless people need somewhere safe to stay and store their belongings, this encampment will have services and support so that the tenants can get help.
