Halloween Safety Tips

halloween_safetyHalloween is coming up and it is always great to remember a few safety tips to keep your home and your family safe. We have shared some tips in the past, but it is always good to have a few reminders. This link  has some great ideas to help when you are heading out with small children. When putting together costumes remember to avoid masks, add some reflective tape, dress warmly and put your child’s name, address and phone number on his costume.

For homeowners, its great to remember to turn on outdoor lights, and replace burnt-out bulbs, especially if you plan to be home to hand out candy. If you will not be home, turning your light off will let trick-or-treaters know there is no candy. It is also helpful to remove items from your yard or porch that might trip a child and also its nice to remember that some children have food allergies and kids will be getting tons of candy, so consider giving treats other than candy, such as stickers, erasers or a yo-yo.

Last but not least, have fun and enjoy your holiday!
