Mayor Murray Expands Affordable Housing Levy

for-rentEarlier this month, Mayor Ed Murray announced a proposal to replace and expand the expiring Seattle Housing Levy and add a 7-year ballot measure that will invest $290 million into affordable housing programs. The full article from the Mayor’s office can be found here.  The goal of the new proposal will to focus on the people with the most need; seniors, people with disabilities, low-wage workers and people experiencing homelessness.

The Mayor will be seeking input from the community before he submits his proposed ballot measure to the City Council in March. Throughout February, the City will hold community conversations to provide information about the Levy, explain the Mayor’s proposal, and offer an opportunity for people to share their thoughts on their priorities for affordable housing investments.
